For Gaining Weight are Fat Testing Products Worth Buying?

with a trip to a doctor or trainer costing $10-$20 to have measurments and body compositions calculated, are products like these worth the cost in the long run? this website shows a digital body fat caliper, a mechanical body fat caliper, and a measuring tape.

just wondering if anyone has bought these and tried them on thier own instead of making periodic trips to the "professionals".

thanks.

The fat testing products you refer to may very well may be the best products available in the world but regardless Irecommend you have a friend or workout partner, spouse etc do the measuremnts for you. I also recommend that the same person conducts the measurements every time to ensure accuracy in comparision of the results. There can be great discrepency in results if pinch tests are done an inch here or there away from previous measurements. So equipment or not get someone you can rely on to do your fat tests. If you can get someone to do it for free then great. Buy the equipment. If you are going to try to do this by yourself then forget it. Taking a fat measurement on your scapula and tricep is a waste of time.

Your measurements wont mean a thing and it will be hard to tell if you are gaining fat or muscle with your weight gains!
